He has showcased his talents at prestigious events such as The Future of Our Pasts Arts Festival organized by Yale-NUS College and the China-Asean Music Festival in Nanning, Guangxi. His artistic journey also includes a tour of Malaysia alongside contemporary violist Christoven Tan, where they presented their avant-garde recital Natural Spectra, featuring works by composers such as Nico Muhly and Garth Knox.
Junsian is a core member of Weird Aftertaste, an artist-driven new music collective dedicated to advancing contemporary concert music.
The collective, founded in September 2021, champions experimental, non-commercial sounds and provides a platform for both established
figures and emerging innovators in the new music scene. Rejecting the conventional model of a singular artistic director, Weird Aftertaste
thrives on the collaborative energies of its diverse members.
From 2017 to 2022, Junsian was a key performer in the esteemed Chinese Chamber ensemble Ding Yi Music Company. During his
tenure, he premiered the cello concerto Metaphysical North by Zhong Zhiyue, Associate Professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He
also collaborated with Dong Quang Vinh and his renowned Vietnamese bamboo ensemble, Suc Song Moi, and played leading roles in
productions by prominent local composers, including Mr. Law Wei Lun and Dr. Zechariah Goh.
Junsian is also a dedicated member of The Purple Symphony, Singapore’s first inclusive orchestra, which integrates musicians with and without special needs. A graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts – Royal College of Music, Junsian studied under Leslie Tan of the acclaimed Tang Quartet. His academic journey was marked by numerous scholarships and awards, including the OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship
(2019/2020), Kris Foundation Scholarship (2018/2019), Tan Chin Tuan Merit Award (2017/2018), Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts and
Cultural Award (2018), and Yamaha Music Scholarship (2017).
